WoW Classic Interest
« on: March 22, 2019, 09:19:49 AM »
Hi all!

I'm anxiously awaiting the release of WoW Classic and wanted to put up a post to see who all was going to give it a try.

At the present time there is no information on how Realms will be introduced initially, so I was thinking that we could use this post as a means to gather everyone together so we could maybe, possibly all come together and decide on a server to join so we can all play together....and possibly establish Excalibur(v2) there as well!

Dweedy/Ohy...can I request a sticky for this, please?

For those out of the loop, the following link is an official Blue post detailing 6 different content phases for Classic, and the reasons behind them:

Hiya Ced

Announce and Sticky done - no idea if the announce actually works :P I've also moved it to the news section so it'll be on the front page!

I have a passing interest in Classic for sure, so will definitely be trying it out!

Just a couple of important updates:

Blizzard will be announcing the available Realm names in the next couple of days - prior to the announced name reservations they will be doing.

That's right! On August 12th, starting at 3:00PM PDT- Blizzard will allow players with a currently active subscription to reserve up to 3 names on a specific server in anticipation of the Live launch of Classic on the 27th.

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/reserve-your-name-in-wow-classic-on-august-12-at-3-00-p-m-pdt/242723

Blizzard is also planning a Pre-Launch Test that will begin on August 8th at 11:00 AM PDT, and will end on August 9th. The test is open to anyone with a currently active subscription. The following link also details minimum specs and download size:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/wow-classic-pre-launch-test-11-00-a-m-pdt-august-8-and-minimum-specs/239621

It's not known what server names will be available, so our own forums might be the best place to get together and keep a watch on things. Of course, if a Classic version of Silvermoon is offered, then hopefully we can all agree to reserve our names or create characters there!

See you in game!!

Server names have been announced!

Find more info here:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/wow-classic-realm-names-and-types/246645

13 total Realms with 2 Oceanic Realms and mix of Normal/PVP/PVPRP Realms both East and West Coast.

The Classic test was amazing, and was just how I remembered it.

Some small changes have been made with the use of Dynamic Respawns in starter areas, and they seem to be using a Layering Technology instead of sharding for population issues. But the overall experience was amazing! I played for 3.5 hours and got to level 8 before the server had to restart for some bug fixes. That 3.5 hours flew by!

I'm planning on creating a character on either Atiesh or Myzrael….

Let's start making plans...only 2 days till name reservation begins!

Count me in Cedric!

I played beta till level 35 or so, it kept me glued to playing but I felt myself getting sucked in so I backed away till release.

Im looking forward to playing though, im hoping the old crew will be back, or at least some of us.

I am seeing a bunch of people I know looking at the Mankrik server if it's not too busy (current raiding group that includes a few Excal family).

I'd like to get everyone in one spot as much as possible of course, so wanted to put Mankrik out there as where I'll likely be making a char (though unlikely I will play much at all heh)

Good too know, I like that mankrik is eastern time zoned, which is something me and my brother were  hoping to play on for once.

Dweedy,

Oceanic people on a US, EST server?

That was my reasoning for choosing the two West Coast servers, in that it would be more latency friendly for you guys.

But if Mankrik is where the Guild Leader is going...I guess it works out even better for me since I'm East Coast! =)

Count me in on Mankrik then!

Nah, not Oceanic. US/Canada and all over based people... one day I will make that Oceanic realm character...  ::)

So that's all good then Mankrik is choice #1.
I'm sure it will be heavily populated at first as most of the realms will be.

Guild wise I am just chatting with Q and suggested we try to do a "super guild" of sorts to get as many friendly faces in one place as possible, across all of our various guilds and groups both past and present.
The main reason behind this is there will be a burst of activity at first, maybe even enough to sustain a dedicated guild but as things settle down it will be good to have as many people as possible!
Will make a post once it's decided.
